Lobbing is a great Kingpin tactic which, when used effectively, can help a player rack of lots of kills quickly. "The tactic itself is the single most effective method in the game to score mutliple kills, based solely on the type of weapon used to perform the skillset. The weapon used is the Grenade Launcher and the grenades they fire have the ability to kill any player withing a certain radius of it's explosion, regardless of the players health and armour status. For example, if you were playing a Team game (eg.Team Death match or Bagman) and a group of, say, 4 of your opponents are all standing in front of their safe to protect it from raids, one strategically placed grenade could very well kill them all. Now, consider that scenario for a moment. If you were to charge into that area, your opponents would see you and initiate a counter offence, and if you're armed with the grenade launcher, you'll be dead in a matter of seconds. Now the smart tactic would be to try an remain undetected in your approach, get close enough to lob a frag whilst staying out of sight, pull out the grenade launcher and plant a frag at your opponent's feet. By the time your opponents realise a frag is at their feet, they don't have enough time to move away from it's area of damage, and you're almost guaranteed a kill or 2. But team games aren't the only games in which lobbing can be effective. Single player deathmatch games can be equally appropriate for lobbing. In fact, most of the better Kingpin players will use lobbing as a tactic at some stage during a map, to get quick multiple kills. In single player Deathmatch, the best places to 'lob' are those with heavy traffic, ie weapon, health and ammo spawn spots...places all players go to maximise their inventories. Central Towers (KPDM5) is your classic loober friendly map (see picture below), with it's narrow hallways, lack of open spaces and split levels. A good lobber will obtain the Grenade Launcher from the upper level, immediately jump down to the lower level, where they are out of sight of players on the upper level, and begin throwing grenades up to the upper level and into the heavy traffic areas. The closed-in nature of the map almost guarantess you lots of kills if they are a reasonable number of players on the server. The main keys to successful lobbing are: * a greande launcher * ample grenade ammo * keep moving, * do not stand in one spot as a lot of players you lob kill, will come hunting for you * lob to strategic areas - where most players go for weapons, health, ammo etc. * have other effective weapons in your inventory - the grenade launcher is not a good close range weapon, and if a player manages to avoid your grenade and get close to you, you want a quick change to an effective close range weapon to repell them. The last lobbing tactic is what I call the SUICIDE LOB. If you are being outgunned in a one on one, or you run into a crowded room and immediately take some damage, sometimes it's not a bad tactic to pull out the grenade launcher and drop a frag at your feet. Whilst this is guaranteed to kill you, your opponents are concetrating on finishing you and by the time they realise you have dropped the SUICIDE LOB, it's too late for them to move out of the way of the damage. Sure you die, but you can also take out your would be attacker in a surprise move. Sometimes this can be a brilliant tactic if your death is already assured." Pearls of Wisdom courtesy of {SWB}Roo

Getting chased? Flamer right up your ass? Well there is no need to take 3 or 4 jumps to reach the top of these crates. There is a simple technique that allows you to do a big jump to get you to the top in one movement. Any obstacle you can jump up on to is a potential double jump. "Momentum is the key with this tatic. You can't complete this trick from a standing start. Make sure you are running and don't stop. Run forwards and as you near the bottom crate, rapidly press your jump button twice as if you were double clicking to open an application in windows. Your first click should see you clear the first crate and land on the second (as the arrows show in the picture below), follow this instantly with your second click which will see you clear the third crate and propel you right to the top (as the arrows show in the picture below). It is as simple as that. It will take a while and you won't hit it every time but on these crates in particular it is a winning move." Pearls of Wisdom courtesy of Zoltrix{GFC} ![]() |

Camping comes in many shapes and forms in just about every FPS game ever made. Kingpin is no exception. Camping is given it's name due to the fact that the act of camping requires a player to stay near the one spot (ie pitch a tent where you are and camp), usually situated out of the immediate eyesight of their opponents and near a place where people are likely to journey. A good example would be at the top of a ladder that players need to climb to access a particular weapon. "Cheating aside, camping is arguably the most unpopular tactic in Kingpin, but it can be a good strategic tactic for dominating maps. In team games, camping is almost a necessity. If a player camps near a powerful weapon spawn and kills any opponents trying to get to it, his team is clearly benefitted by the fact that the oppoisition are limited to other, and possibly, less effective weapons to attack your team mates. This all contributes to "map control", the most effective way to win a team game. A good camper will position themselves so that the number of directions from which the can be attcked is minimised, and all such directions are clearly visible without the need to keep turning around to view. As earlier mentioned, camping comes in many shapes and forms. I will step through them now: Squatter Camping: This is where a player finds a place where he can surprise his opponents and get the easy kill. The top of a ladder near a weapon, in the shadowed corners of a popular room, immediately behind a doorway where players will run in with their backs to you, immediately around a corner etc etc (see picture below). A good 'squatter camper' will arm him/herself with a high powered weapon (one that allows one-shot kills) and find a place out of sight of his unsuspecting victims. This is most prominent in signel player Deathmatch games. Area/Zone Camping: This form of camping is where a player moves around a little bit, but no far from the one spot, and patrols an area where players are likely to populate. A good Area Camper will arm themselves with an effective weapon and run between weapon, ammo, armour and health spawns spots that are within close vicinity of each other. A lot of unarmed players (eg. new spawners) will be in the hunt for the nearest weapon and ammo to get into the game, and an Area Camper will be waiting for them to approach the weapon spawn spots and take the easy kill of the unarmed player. This is equally as used in team and single player games. Spawn Camping: Without doubt, the most unpopular form of camping. Spawn camping is the act of sitting across from common respawn points (places where players re-enter the game after being killed), with a high powered weapon and continually firing your rounds into the spawn spot, with the intention of immediately and instantly killing anyone who who spawns. Respawners are considered easy kills because quite often when they respawn, they are killed by the spawn camper before they've had the chance to move off the spawn spot. This act of gameplay is considered cowardly by most. Guard camping: Used only in Team player games, Guard Camping is the act of guarding strategic postions within the map. For example, in Curse and Bagman a team might allocate players to guard their safe from opposition raids, or a number of players may guard their team mates from attack whilst they collect money from the money drop points. In Assault, the defending team's primary objective is to guard the 3 keys from the attacking team, whilst the attacking team may guard any of their players on the way back to their base in the situation where they have been skillful enough to obtain one of the keys. Whilst some forms of campng don't require much skill at all, ie Spawn (a cowardly act) and Squatter Camping, there are other forms of camping that are necessities to successful team play. Any player that tells you they don't or have not camped, are either pulling your leg or are just too naive to use an effective tactic to win. If you come across such a player in a team play game, join the other team." Pearls of Wisdom courtesy of {SWB}Roo

The double duck is an excellent tool for ducking under objects quickly. Don't waste your time piss farting about when someone is going to plant a rocket in your ass. "Run directly at the opening or obstacle. Just before you approach it double click your duck button twice as if you were double clicking to open an application in windows. You will find that you will effortlessly and seamlessly duck under the obstacle in one fluid movement. There is no need to hold down the duck button." Pearls of Wisdom courtesy of |TF|Uber_Ho ![]() |

The rocket jump is one method of using you inventory to an unexpected advantage. Rockets are not only for fragging your enemy but also for propelling you to great heights. There are many fine exponents of the rocket jump. Teamplay versions of Kingpin have seen the rocket jump tatic flourish, that being it is such a great way to get in and out of your opponents base in a matter of seconds. "As stated on the weapons page, if used effectively, Rocket Jumps can give you the advantage and add an element of surprise to your game. There are many places on each map that can only be reached by the use of rocket jumps. Death match 1 provides for some great rocket jumping. Ladders, and therefore HMG campers, can be easily avoided and taken out with a single rocket blast from mid air. This makes for some awesome kills and some sweet camping spots. Although tricky to pull of at first, with a little practice and you will be a rocket jumping master. Rocket jumps can take as little as 5% energy off but can also easily loose all your health if done incorrectly. It is often helpful to have leg armour to reduce the health loss. Simply get a small run off (so you don't jump straight up in the air) look straight DOWN at your feet just before you want to jump, click jump then click shoot almost immediately after. You will find yourself propelling to previously unthought heights." Pearls of Wisdom courtesy of SNoTTY{GFC}
